About AM General

AM General's start can be traced back to the Standard Wheel Company of Terre Haute, Indiana, and when it extended in 1903 to incorporate the Overland Automotive Division. John North Willys bought the Overland organization and renamed it Willys-Overland Motors. This organization was generally celebrated for creating the Willys Jeep, the broadly utilized utility truck that served the U.S. military and different partners all through the war. In 1953, Willys-Overland was bought by Kaiser Motors, which changed the organization's name to Kaiser-Willys Motor Company, and later in 1963 to Kaiser-Jeep Corporation. In 1970, American Motors Corporation bought Kasier-Jeep, and assigned it as its military vehicle maker, renaming it to AM General. In 1983, after AMC finished its tasks as an autonomous car maker, the LTV Corporation bought AM General and made it an auxiliary. In 1992, LTV auctioned off AM General to the Renco Group, which changed over AM General into a restricted obligation organization. On August 20, 2004, Renco Group declared that it would shape a joint endeavor with the MacAndrews and Forbes organization, giving the last 70% responsibility for General.

• Training: AM General operates the Light Tactical Vehicle Training Center, a facility that includes a 320-acre off-road training course to prepare students for difficult off-road conditions they may encounter while operating their vehicles, how to assess battle damage in the field, and how to restore maneuverability through recovery techniques.
• Servicing, Parts, and Logistics: AM General’s Service, Parts, and Logistics Operations division provides a full suite of lifecycle support for operators of AM General vehicles, including technical manuals and training, maintenance planning, and remanufacturing.
• Engineering Services and Technical Support: This division includes engineering design conception, stress analysis, prototype development, production planning, and legacy support for both AM General’s products and those produced by others.
